Weekend Recap 9/15

We kicked off the weekend by spending our Friday night doing come shopping at Lowe's for some storm doors.....real exciting stuff, be jealous! We stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner. I'm totally impressed by their kids menu by the way. The cup of fruit was a big bowl of fresh strawberries, Mandarin oranges, apples, and grapes. They also had the squeeze packets of cinnamon apple sauce as an option. AND the had disposable place mats that stick to the table.

After little man took his nap in the car at he park, from my Saturday post, we enjoyed some more of the beautiful weather. We walked around the pond and watched the ducks. There were a ton of them! We went over to one spot were you can buy food to feed the ducks to sit down since there were more over there. A couple were running around picking up leftover pieces, they weren't that close but apparently MJ thought they were close enough because we wasn't a big fan. He likes then further away :)

Saturday night we had people over for the Iowa vs Iowa State football game. All the kiddos got to play together.

And this was our view our entire Sunday. Madden's favorite toy was climbing back and forth through the coffee table.

Week Two Challenge

We're halfway through September and I'm halfway done with my monthly challenge!

I almost didn't make it out everyday this week, almost.
I prefer to get my mileage outside, while the weather is nice enough, more enjoyable and because it's harder.
But sometimes it's easier and more convenient to hit the gym during my lunch hour. That way I know I can get it in and can enjoy my evenings with the fam without missing anything.

I love taking the dogs on walks with me or bringing MJ along for a ride. But it's hard to hand both.
And I would prefer to have 3-4 of my days running, with a stroller I can handle even though it's a bumpy ride for MJ with the routes we take but with the dogs running is out of the question.

Wednesday I barely made it. Sunday I took all 3 kids on a walk, then Monday and Tuesday did both days on the treadmill at the gym. So Wednesday I was really planning on running outside.
Unfortunately life got in the way. Making dinner, playing with the kids, bath time with MJ and then Dave's parents stopped by for a "quick" visit. By time they left it was pitch black out and after 8:00pm.
I debated with myself for a good 15 minutes on whether to go or not.
I even walked outside to check just how dark it was, but went back inside and did dishes inside.
I sat down disappointed.

After about 10 minutes I said screw it, threw my running shoes on and grabbed the dogs for a quick mile walk.
I haven't ran in the dark yet. I'm too nervous.
So instead I settled for a late night outing with the puppies and was so much more satisfied with myself.

I feel pretty good about this week.

Beast mode

This kid has been in beast mode all week. He goes from my happy little man to whiny, cranky pants within minutes every morning and every evening.

He's been the same way since he first work up this morning at 6:30am. Daddy of course went to golf at 7:30am so it's just me and my pre-hormonal toddler. Needless to say even though it was a bit chilly out early this morning, I decided to throw him in the stroller and get moving.

It definitely feels like Fall is in the air today! We had to get all bundled up but thankfully MJ enjoyed the ride and was content the entire 5k we accomplished.

Once we got back home though he was back to Captain Crabby Pants and has refused to take a real nap even though he is so tired. This is so unlike him!!

I've given up. Through him in the car for a drive on this beautiful day. He fell asleep within 10 minutes so I stopped at Starbucks for a salted caramel mocha and am current enjoying this wonderful view.

While this happens!

First week challenge

Yesterday I completed the first week of this months challenge, one mile a day.

It was a success!

I actually got in 8 total workouts.  One day I walked during my lunch hour and then went for a short run once I got home.
There's just something about working up a good sweat and getting your heart rate up that makes you feel better about yourself.......where did that just come from ?!?!
I love this app!
I love how it sends me a weekly workout summary. After just one week I've completed 8 workouts for a total of just over 4 hours, with a distance of 16 miles and burning almost 2,000 calories.

That sure makes a girl feel good!!

Slackers

Took ALL the kids on a nice 2.6 mile walk last night for my One Mile A Day Challenge this month. Two of the three can't hang anymore with this mama...

Maddux barely made it to 2 miles before I was practically dragging him by his leash. So what else do you do but throw your little dog into the storage compartment of your stroller!

I actually think he was very thankful for the free ride, he ended up laying down in after a few minutes and enjoying the scenery.

Ain't nobody gonna slow this girl down!!! ;)

As for this kid, it won't be too long before the shoes on the other foot so...Rest my son, rest!
P.S. - Do you not just love his belly sticking out of this shirt??
He was like that for our entire walk, holla!
