Baby #2 Update: 14-16 Weeks

How far along: 14/15/16 weeks

Maternity clothes: Just broke out the BellyBand today for some extra snug work pants and have been wearing maternity fleece leggings but so far that has been it, although I know that will be changing probably in the next week here.

Stretch marks: No

Sleep: Sleep has been quite a bit better! Still waking up a few times a night for a quick bathroom run but typically have been easily able to fall back to sleep.

Weight: +7 lbs total

Exercise: This pregnancy I've decided I want to be much healthier and more conscious than my pregnancy with MJ. Not that I was horrible or anything but if possible I would rather not gain 40 lbs this time around. I would ideally love to target 25-30 lbs. With that, my goal is to keep up with using my FitBit and hitting 10K+ steps everyday and to keep healthier eating habits. Now that the majority of my nausea is gone and I don't feel the need to eat ALL THE CARBS for half the day, I think I can start making better choices. Up until early last week when I got a stomach bug I was on a 35 day streak of having at least 10,000 steps or more every day but I'm back on track and determined to keep it up! I also want to start incorporating weights back into my exercise routine again so back to lunch dates at the gym we go.

Baby Update: At 14 week appointment baby was measuring on track and heartbeat was 158 bpm. S/he was very wiggly while listening with the Doppler and even gave us a couple kicks to hear.

Best Moment this Week: Second Trimester and hearing baby again! Celebrating Mother’s Day.
Madden might have been the only human who was not happy the Friday before Mother's day on the way to daycare. And once I got to work I had a wonderful surprise from my boys delivered, an Edible Arrangement of grapes, pineapple in the shape of hearts and chocolate covered strawberries along with a balloon and stuffed bear. I did NOT share with anyone aside from baby :)

Miss Anything: Starting to feel much better, no not missing anything anymore :)

Movement: Slight movement, but not regular or strong enough quite yet. Every so often I feel some pressure or rolling/nudging up against my abdomen for a few seconds. No real flutters or kicks just yet and it's not every day.

Food cravings: None yet. Definitely not craving chocolate or sweets, I still have an entire bag of Cadbury mini eggs from Easter that haven’t even appealed to me. The only reason they are even open is because Madden saw them and begged for some eggs.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Thankfully it seems the majority of nausea has left, the only time I have really felt any is occasionally first thing in the morning between 3:00am – 7:00am depending on what time I wake up.

Gender: I’m still torn. Love the idea of not knowing and being surprised at the end but then again really look forward to finding out so know if we are changing or keeping MJ’s nursery the same, coming up with baby names (which we haven’t even really begun to discuss), preparing MJ if he’s having a brother/sister, and buying a new wardrobe or breaking out the old one from storage. Big Appointment isn't until June 25th.

Labor Signs: N/A

Symptoms: Of course as soon as I made this statement last update…“I’ve come to the conclusion this baby already doesn't like work as I typically have minimal nausea on the weekends but pretty much every morning during the week.” …baby decided to prove me wrong and I got sick that Saturday morning! Thankfully it seems that has been the end of the majority of my nausea so far and hoping it stays that way, aside from having a 24 hour stomach bug earlier last week anyways. Still having lower back pain, particularly when I bend over or have been laying on my back and try to sit up or get out of bed. The other day while walking on the treadmill I started having sharp pains shooting down my lower back through my butt which made it extremely uncomfortable to walk even at a slow pace. It only lasted about 10 minutes but then happened again after I got off the treadmill until shortly after I returned to work. I immediately saw my chiro yesterday in hopes to help get straightened out.

Mood: With the nausea subsiding, I am feeling much better :)

Looking forward to: We’re trying to knock out some projects around the house that we've been meaning/wanting to get done for a while now. One of which is finally landscaping our front and backyards. This past Monday we FINALLY got ALL the carpet in our house professional deep cleaned along with the couch and love-seat in the living room. They were so disgusting and I might have been a bit more excited about getting them cleaned than I was about anything else for this baby right now. MJ will also be getting a brand new big boy room, in which he as requested a Baseball Room (Dave loves that!).

First Trimester

I don’t foresee weekly Bumpdates happening nearly as often as they did the first go around L But I definitely plan on attempting.  This first Bumpdate is brought to you by ALL THE WEEKS!

How far along: The beginning to 13 weeks

Maternity clothes: Not yet

Stretch marks: No

Sleep: Sleep has been horrible starting out since just before 6 weeks but has slightly gotten better. I actually didn’t realize just how restless or how often I’ve been waking up until I got my new Fitbit a few weeks ago. It tracks your sleep quality and my charts are horrid! Unfortunately I have been extra sensitive to smells so I’ve had to avoid the majority of essential oils for quite awhile. Even lavender was too much for me. I have been able to recently start using them more the last couple weeks. I’ve been putting Lavender, Serenity and Veviter on my big toes and the bottom of my feet, it seems to help those nights I use them.

Best Moment this Week Trimester: Telling all of our family, co-workers and the rest of the world! Seeing baby in an ultrasound. Madden trying to feed the baby M&M’s and Cheetos (on separate occasions) through my belly button. And at my 13 week appointment Dave brought Madden and he got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which was 160 bpm. The midwife let him press the buttons to turn on and off the Doppler which he thought was pretty cool and when sound of the heartbeat came on he made the cutest surprised "Ohhh" face.

Miss Anything: The only thing would be the feeling of not wanting to throw up most days.

Movement: This is debatable. Although I think it is too early still, the last two weeks I have thought I've felt some. It has not been little flutter or kicks, the first 2 times it was more pressure like the baby was pushing up again my uterus/tummy. And this last time was like little bubbles/popping very similar to what I vaguely remember feeling at the beginning with Madden.

Food cravings: I definitely do not have a sweet tooth. Mainly carbs because of the nausea

Anything making you queasy or sick: This entire first trimester I've had lots of nausea, much more so than with Madden. I've gotten physically sick 4 times, all first thing in the morning. Once the morning after eating Italian sausage pizza, it just did not sit well. Once from drinking too much water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Once from not eating enough for dinner the night before and waking up with too empty of a stomach. And once for the overwhelmingly strong scent of dryer sheets. Dave was completely devastated about the whole pizza thing, especially since that one happened very early one. Thankfully we just tried pizza again this past Sunday and all is well so far. I can't drink a lot of water either. I typically drink a ton of it, 70+ ounces a day just at work. But now I am seriously lucky if I can finish off 20 ounces throughout the day. And I can barely get through drinking an entire cup of coffee. So I've taken up juices, crystal light, and almost anything that has some flavor to it.

Gender: I’m completely torn on finding out the gender this time around. I think it would be fun to wait, but it's such a long time to wait. And of course I would like to know if we need to keep MJ's nursery as is or change up some colors. Plus I think it would be helpful to Madden to be able to talk to him about a bother or sister.  Dave on the other hand wants to find out no matter what and has said it’s fine if I don’t but he will find out, which would make things a bit difficult.

Labor Signs: N/A

Symptoms: I've come to the conclusion this baby already doesn't like work as I typically have minimal nausea on the weekends but pretty much every morning during the week. It usually lasts from as soon as I wake up or even in the middle of the night, until about lunch time. Then will resurface throughout the day if I go too long without eating.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: I'm a bit moody. Being so overtired and nauseous the majority of the time doesn't help but when I'm not feeling either of those things I feel pretty great.

Looking forward to: Second trimester. Looking and feeling more pregnant than just chubby and bloated. Movement. Starting/finishing are list of house projects to get accomplished before baby is due!
