Couch to 5k: Week 5

This week really didn't go as well as expected, it actually didn't go well at all :( Monday I made it the first 5 minutes no problem but struggled the last 5 minutes but ended up making it through thankfully! Here is was my schedule week:

Monday - Warm-up with 5 minutes walking followed by 5 minutes of jogging (1/2 mile), 3 minutes walking (1/4 mile), 5 minutes jogging (1/2 mile), 3 minutes walking (1/4 mile), and 5 minutes jogging, then ending with a 4 minutes cool-down walking.

Wednesday - Warm-up with 5 minutes walking followed by 8 minutes jogging (3/4 mile), 3 minutes walking (1/2 mile), and 8 minutes jogging (3/4 mile), ending with a 4 minute cool-down walking.

Friday - Warm-up with 5 minutes walking followed by 20 minutes of jogging (2 miles) with NO walking and ending with 5 minute cool-down walking.

Wednesday didn't go as well as Monday did, I barely made it the first 8 minutes and couldn't recover with only 3 minutes to walk in between which again made me struggle the last interval. I ended up only able to run 5 minutes before having to stop running due the fast I thought I seriouly was going to throw up. Friday I was still sore. My hip and right foot have been sore and stiff for the last week or so. I think I may need new shoes already. So by time Friday rolled around I decided I need to take a break from running to give my joints some time to recover. I still worked out though, just did the elliptical since it's lower impact.

Couch to 5k: Week 4

HOLY COW! I am so thankful I completed this week. It sure was hard and it's only going to get worse!!!

This was my last week of doing the same thing all three days. I worked out Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday again since it went so well the week before. I struggled on the first day, I thought I was going to pass out or just stop jogging while the treadmill was still moving so I had to stop at the very end with only a minute and a half left to jog. It. Kicked. My. Butt.

Thursday was better, I was at least able to make it the entire time. Thrilled to finish but absolutely exhausted! Day 3 was a lot better. I wasn't sure I was going to make the last full 5 minutes jogging but I DID and might have been able to do another minute. But I resisted. I even spent 30 minutes on the elliptical afterwards in anticipation of the big dinner celebration we had planned Saturday night at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse.

Week 4: T-Th-Sat Started with a 5 minute warm-up walking followed by 3 minutes of jogging (1/4 mile), 90 seconds walking (1/8 mile), 5 minutes jogging (1/2 mile), 2 1/2 minutes walking (1/4 mile), 3 minutes jogging (1/4 mile), 90 seconds walking (1/8 mile), and 5 minutes jogging (1/2 mile), then ending with a 3 1/2 minutes walking

Next week I start jogging for longer periods of time each day.....I'm nervous! I might have to download some new music to help keep me motivated and keep my eyes away from staring at the clock.

New Round

We're back on Clomid this month again.
This time around I've been getting hot flashes and headaches off and on. They really haven't been that bad (aside from it already being 95+ degrees), luckily they just come then go and only stick around for a short time. I can deal.
I replenished the opk supply....
I got 50 ovulation predictor strips and 20 pregnancy test strips. That's a hell of a lot of things to pee on!! I really hope I won't have to use all those but I'm almost done with the last package from a few months ago so I needed to restock the stash and this was the best deal.

Odds Are

Well it looks like the possibility of trying IUI in order to get pregnant is inevitable....
Another. Failed. Cycle.
I was really hoping this last try on our own would work. But wrong again. So we move on. Starting Clomid again this cycle then, pending ovulation, an IUI possibly the first week in August.
A friend of ours sent me a message earlier last week letting me know she is officially seeing Dr. F now! She just went through 3 rounds on Clomid and had tried making an appointment with an RE at the University of Iowa Hospital Infertility clinic in Iowa City which was going to take at least 3 months to get her in for just a consultation. I suggested she call Dr. F since he's in town AND associated with the U of I clinic in Iowa City, she called and got right in! The good news, we could be doing our IUI's about the same as each other! Well bad news is that she also has to go through this in order to get pregnant but good that we at least know someone experiencing it and going through it at the same time! Positive thinking right?!
Yesterday was Dave's birthday, so Saturday he wanted to have a "date day" since baseball season is officially over. We went to lunch at Red Robin, did a little shopping, went to see the last Harry Potter movie and then did some grocery shopping at Sam's. Romantic date day I know ;) On our way out for the day Dave was trying to decide where he wanted to eat. Every time we go out to eat he always wants to go to a buffet, which he loves but I hate them! I think they are a waste of money, I don't eat that much food nor do I want to, your just forced to over eat with all the options and endless food.....I feel disgusting just thinking about them! Needless to say we never go to them. But for his birthday that's where he wanted to go and I wasn't going to say anything since, it is his birthday after all. And he knew this, so he offered to "make a deal" with me....I could choose between going to the Golden Corral Buffet or the next boy and girl baby names he throws out I cannot veto and they have to be on the table.
Okay back story.... we are huge Friends fans, we watch the seasons over and over every night when we go to bed. In the season where Rachel is pregnant, her and Ross talk about baby names in which they try to agree upon names they both like, here's the clip of it... http://youtu.be/v0wXDDowRlM This basically is us anytime either one of us thinks of new name, which is always happening....we are in BIG trouble agreeing when the time finally arrives we get pregnant!
Obviously I took the names....he didn't think of the technicality that just because one of this names is "on the table" doesn't mean it's going to be an actual option :) haha Unless of course it is a good one.

Couch to 5k: Week 3

This week I tried working out Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday which worked out well. I loved going to the gym on Saturday morning at 8am. It was a great excuse to stay home Friday night instead of going out for drinks and it was a good thing too because Dave didn't get home till very late! The gym was also completely dead, only 2 other people were there, everyone else were in classes or the pool. Plus since I no longer have to work Saturday mornings and felt really good after my run I had extra time to workout a little longer, which was much needed!

Week 3 schedule consisted of starting with a 5 minute warm-up walking, followed by doing two repetitions of jogging for 90 seconds, walking for 90 seconds, jogging for 3 minutes, walking for 3 minutes, and then I added jogging 2 minutes for an even 30 minutes overall and ending with a 5 minute cool-down walking.

The first day of the week is the hardest and so far by the 3rd day I've done really good. I looked ahead at week four and it looks hard!!! Ahhh I can't wait to get through it already :) At least so far we are minus 2lbs of the gained I had regained.

Fun in the Sun

What a busy weekend! I feel like I need one more day off to recover from all the sun and activities. Saturday Dave and I spent the entire day (10:00am - 5:00pm!) at TPC for the John Deere Classic. It was exhausting....90 degree weather with a heat index of just over 100 and not a cloud in the sky, on top of that I couldn't find any sunscreen besides SPF 15 before we left. Needless to say I got fried!!! We followed the leader, Steve Stricker and Jhonathan Vegas ALL 18 HOLES! I've only played golf once, that was just 9 holes then I rode the remaining 9 and that was all riding along in a cart. This was hot, sweaty and exhausting. Dave almost got hit by one of Vegas's drives on the 10th hole as we all were trying to run away from the green he almost ran right into it, it was a good foot away from his head!! I must admit it was still fun and I was able to spend the day with my husband! Sunday I went boating with Roxie, her boyfriend Tom and her family on her father's friends' boat. We went out on the Mississippi River all afternoon. I almost didn't go since I was burnt from Saturday but I was sure to load up on the 50 SPF and reapplied every 20 minutes for the entire day! It was an absolutely beautiful day on the river spending time with one of my best friends...
Miss Roxie enjoying drinks and sun rays!
Working on my red tan as I only turn 3 shades....white, pink or red!
Tom drew a portrait of the puppies....fighting for attention and pawing at the knees! I think it's pretty good, looks a lot like them. He captured them well :) Maddux in on the left and Waveland on the right.
See doesn't Maddux look just like his photo. He was giving me sad eyes all night today.
Who doesn't love an upside down puppy!

Giving it Another Go

I believe we all remember when I did the detox back in January and than make plans to get back to the gym to keep up the weight loss....yea well I failed!

And not just failed but an EPIC FAILURE!!

Not only did I NOT return to the gym shortly after but it has actually been months (with only random days here and there going). On top of that I went back to eating like crap and gained the majority of the weight back....

I try to blame Dave since he has a fast food addiction. He can eat anything and everything and not gain an ounce! I hate him for that! I'm extremely jealous of him for it. (I really hope if we have girls they get his metabolism so they don't have to worry so much about this crap!) But of course in the end it is only my fault. So I'm finally making way back to the gym (again!) and it seems like when I've blogged about it weekly in the past it has seemed to help me keep with it so we'll try it again....

I've randomly seen friends on facebook talk about doing some couch to 5k thingy, which I have never paid any attention too. But for some reason it popped into my head as I was thinking about this whole working out/losing weight/eating healthy thing again. I looked it up and decided to give it a whirl in hopes that it can help me work on running (since I am in no way, shape or form a runner) and sticking with it!

So I have officially started the Couch to 5k! I'm in week 3, here is a look back of what I have done the last 2 weeks.

Week 1: M -W-F Started with a five minute warm-up walking, then alternating 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds walking for 20 minutes and then cooling-down with 5 minutes of walking for a total of 30 minutes. I did this 3 days with a day break in between to recover and added abs as well.

Week 2: M-W-F Started with a five minute warm-up walking, then alternating with 90 seconds of jogging with 2 minutes of walking for 20 minutes and then cooling-down with 5 minutes of walking for a total for 30 minutes. I also added abs and 2 of the 3 days added an extra 10-15 minutes of cycling. Saturday I walked 18 holes with Dave at the John Deere Classic which was EXHAUSTING followed by boating/swimming on Sunday.....quite an active week!

So far so good, wish me luck to keep it up this week!!!!!

More P4

Another blood test today....progesterone is 24.8 this month which means I sure did ovulate all on my own (which we already knew) on an all natural cycle. I must say it sure feels nice not to be medicated this month!.
