Happy 13 months MJ!

My little toddler!
This is the first month with no more monthly stickers. I could buy more for this next year but there’s really no point, you don’t sit still long enough to take monthly pictures and you’re far too curious about what’s sticking to your shirt to leave them alone so they get destroyed in .05 seconds.
This has been a big month of mental development. You’re starting to pick up new words and we can actually understand what words your trying to say. You really love to mimic people, particularly mommy, daddy and all your grandparents.
This month you got to spend lots of extra time with all your grandparents and really got to bond with them. You even had a few extra daddy/madden days. Your daycare provider, Rachel, went into labor the first Monday of August and took 3 whole weeks off. I stayed home with you the first day, your daddy had off that Friday and we were so extremely lucky to have 2 sets of grandparents over the moon for you to rearrange their schedules to help trade off days those 3 weeks. You still got to hang out with some of your daycare friends and a few others at Pam’s, Rachel’s mom who also does daycare, a couple days those last two weeks. But you sure were ready to get back to your routine and play with your buddies on a regular basis.
We took our first official family trip!
We went to Chicago.....visited Lake Michigan, the Shedd Aquarium, Wrigley Field and your very 1st Chicago Cubs game!!!
You sir, are becoming quite the little character. I love watching your personality emerge a little more everyday as you develop and learn new things.

Age: 13 months old
Weight: 23 pounds 11 ounces
Length: 30+ inches
Size: Wears size 4 disposable diapers and large setting on cloth diapers. Wearing all 12-18 months clothes.
Hair: Light brown,
Eyes: Love those Baby Blues!
Health: We almost made it an entire month completely healthy. Of course right at the end of the month he started getting a horrible runny nose, which I just contributed to teething since it was seriously like the flood gates opened up. Non-stop pools of drool for a week. I can see that tooth coming! Then we got a horrible diaper rash that won't go away along with some diarrhea and a low grade fever, I still thought it was teething. Once this diaper rash started bleeding and just getting worse I called the peds. Turns out MJ has a cold, is teething, has an ear infection AND a yeast diaper rash. Poor kid!
Teeth: 7 teeth total with his 4th bottom one on the way in, so we'll just round up to 8 because it's bound to pop through like any hour.
Sleeping: Still a great sleeper! Aside the one night before we left for Chicago and being completely off schedule while in Chicago, he did great under the circumstances. He still takes two naps, the first is around 9:30am and the second around 1:00pm. Although on weekends it always seems to be later. He's becoming more of a night owl these days, staying up till 8-8:30pm. Once bath time hits or get nakey for jammies he gets a huge second wind and is wound the F up! It's hilarious! Still sleeping the night through till 6:30am.
Eating: Completely done nursing, we made it over the 1 year mark! He’s completely on cow’s milk. New foods we tried were chocolate fro-yo, refried beans, Spanish rice, French fries, peanut butter, ravioli, zucchini, BBQ pork.
Favorite foods this month were – Blueberries, blueberries, blueberries! Holy moly this kid loved those things like no other. Grapes, watermelon, nectarines, chicken nuggets, yogurt, oatmeal, cheese ravioli, ice cream, fro-yo. Dislikes: cantaloupe, honeydew melon, sweet potatoes, baked or grilled chicken, any red meat. Lots of spitting things out and acting disgusted to things he’s likes in the past. Or in the middle of eating something, all of a sudden spitting it out and refusing to eat more until he's distracted about 10 minutes later.
Milestones: Throwing fits! Crawling up stairs. Pulling himself up. Standing holding onto something. Just starting to cruise around furniture, just a few steps. Making animal noises. Playing the kazoo
Favorite Toys/Activities: Baths. Balls. His new puppy sit ‘n stride. Drinking from straws. The dogs food and water bowls. Pressing buttons. Diving into pillows and blankets.
Dislikes: Diaper changes. Sitting still for too long. Not being able to get into the laundry room to the dog bowls.
Words/Sounds: no-no, nigh-nigh, mama, dada, uh-oh, “thank you” (which Dave thinks it sounds like take two every time MJ says it), ball, bah ball “baseball”, kitty, doggie. Animal noises – he grunts twice for ruff ruff, roars for a lion or bear, and will say moo.
Favorite Moments
- Recently he started making mad dashes to the bathroom as soon as he hears the bathtub water turn on. He can be anywhere in the house on the main floor. As soon as the water turns on he will take off crawling down the hallway to the hall bathroom. He crawls right up to the tub, pulls himself up, will stand there yelling and even attempt to try to get into the tub. There are even times he will follow me if he just sees me going in there to use the bathroom and still try to get in the tub and stand there yelling/pounding wanting to take a bath.
- He's obsessed with the dogs water and food bowls. What it is about those things I don't understand. We try to keep the laundry room door shut so he stays out of it but any time he hears or sees it's open he'll beeline over there and sit right in front of the dogs dishes. He'll then inch closer and closer to them to put his hand in the first bowl of food, then the water bowl and if he can to the second bowl of food. When we take him out of the laundry room or close the door on him it's melt down city! Sometimes to just avoid the meltdown I'll just put the bowls up and then he'll just sit on the rug the bowls go and just hang out there squealing.
Enjoying a little nakey time!!
