2 Year Update

My sweet baby boy is officially T-W-O!

This is my favorite stage, although every stage is my favorite just because they are all so different and I love watching him literally right before my eyes. He is learning and growing so much. This past month I've really noticed his language develop and start to have a bit more of a “conversation” with him. We can ask him questions which he will respond to with yes and no answers or okay and yeah. He asks questions, they might be a little more like demands such as “Go outside mom?” because he really just wants to go outside and isn't happy if I say no.
And yes he has officially started calling me “Mom” not mama or mommy, which makes him sound like a big boy and far less needy like my baby.

This month has been pretty quiet with anything other than baseball. It kind of ruled our life. We enjoyed lots and lots of baseball games as the team did so well, they were MAC Champs which was huge because the last time the school won was 27 years ago, and they also made it all the way to Substate. Aside from baseball we had MJ’s party which I will post soon!
Highlights

  • Learned to climb UP the slide at the playground
  • Helped babysit his buddy Violet
  • Enjoyed a daddy/MJ day
  • Got a 4 day weekend with mom and dad for Fourth of July weekend
  • Celebrated the 4th of July
  • Went to lots of exciting West baseball games
  • Had his two year pictures taken by refusing to smile
  • Celebrated daddy's birthday
  • Visited mommy at work
  • Took lots of walks with mommy and the dogs
  • Went to West's substate baseball games and got to stay up extra late
  • Started practicing his baseball slide with Jackson and Halana
  • Had his 2nd birthday party
  • Became a BIG cousin to baby Emery!!!

We had his two year wellness visit today, he weights 31 pounds which puts him in the 88 percentile and he is 34 1/4 inches tall which is the 54 percentile. He still is in size 5 diapers and wears all 2T clothes with some 3T. I finally packed away those 18 month skin tight pj's, Dave was making too many comments about them being crop tops.

Night time play date

Health: Another stellar month of a perfect bill of health. Our only concern has been every time he eats blueberries (which he loves) he breaks out in a nasty diaper rash. The doctor said if he was allergic he would break out everywhere not just the diaper area. We can continue to give him blueberries still and to start giving him a probiotic (which is over-the-counter) as well which should help. So we will try that out to see if it will help his little tushy otherwise will just have to swear off blueberries until he is fully potty trained with #2.

Sleeping: No change here either, my little rock star is a great sleeper that I can't complain one bit about.

Favorite Foods: Cheese, yogurt, grapes, blueberries, watermelon, strawberries, corn on the con, sweet potatoes, toast with peanut butter, chicken nuggets, popcorn, macaroni and cheese, ketchup (I realize this is not a food but apparently to toddlers it's a food group!). He of course has his mamas sweet tooth. He loves cupcakes, chocolate, ice cream, pudding, nonuts (donuts), cookies, mommy's homemade muffins, no bake energy bites. He loves water, milk and of course juice when we let him have it.

Instead of cheese we say Cupcake!
Milestones: Starting to drink out of a normal cup all by himself once in a while. Using regular size spoon and fork. Telling us when he has pooped or is about to, he has yet to go on the potty at all and will only sit on the potty for a few seconds. Wanting to wash his hands. He likes to do things himself and will only let you help him if he asks for help.

Favorite Toys: Anything baseball related or that he can hit with a bat, Spiderman, basketball hoop, balloons, trains, building blocks, books, water table, bubbles.

Favorite Activities: Playing outside, anything baseball related or on a baseball field, going to the park/playground, playing grandmas piano, baths and showers with daddy, playing hide and seek or peek-a-book.

Favorite TV shows/Movies: Mickey Mouse Club, Monsters University, Frozen, Sandalot, Jungle Book

Favorite Moments

1. After waking up from a nap I found him and his crib covered in white fluff, he just laid in his crib with a giant smile on his face. At first I couldn't figure out from what stuffed animal the insides were from, he continued to just laid there not moving with the smirk on his face. I thought it was hilarious and baffled as I checked all 3 toys over and over. I called Dave in to see him and figured out it was the Baseball Build-A-Bear Dave had given me for Valentine's Day a few years ago that I now let MJ play and sleep with. Dave playfully scolded Madden, saying "That wasn't your bear Madden, how could you do that to mommies things." Instantly his smirk turned into a heart wrenching face of devastation with his eyes welling up with tears as if he really had done something terrible. I mean this face of his was far more sad than any of the pouty faces he's ever made before (I wish I had a pictures of it!).

2. After the baseball season officially ended Dave took MJ out to the complex with him to pick a few things up quick and let him run around the field. He said when they got out to the field MJ just looks around and said "Guys?", looking for all the players. Then he looked at Dave and said "Daddy where'd they go? Baseball?". He thought that was the sweetest thing and really wish he could have had that moment recorded on video.
