Madden 3 Years Old

Madden is officially three years old! I am a bit behind in writing his 3 year update, I had been keeping all the info for this post on my phone and then iTunes somehow got reinstalled and erased ALL my notes, whomp, whomp, whomp. So I’m winging it with my horrible memory...and just another reason why it's taken a while to get finished.

We’ve had one fun year with this kid. He has grown and developed like crazy.

Height: 38.25 inches, 69%ile
Weight: 37.2 pounds, 91%ile
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Light brown

Wearing: Size 3T/4T clothes, size 9 shoes, and size 4 undies :)

Health: Overall Madden is a healthy, happy and growing boy. He’s had a few colds and sickness throughout the year which is normal. He thankfully hasn’t had any problems with ear infections for quite awhile. He's constantly on the go which shows with the constant bumps and bruises we always seem to find.

Sleeping: As I’ve said before, we’ve been blessed with one good little sleeper since he was 6 months old. Madden transitioned from his crib to a toddler bed in December after he started climbing out with the mattress on the floor. Even though he is able to climb in and of the toddler bed as he wishes, he generally stays in bed. Only recently the past few months has he begun to come out of this room multiple times at bedtime with different excuses to prolong sleeping. His excuses range from needing to go potty (even after already going), a dinosaur or monster is in his room, can’t find his blankie, wanting his dinosaur or certain stuffed animal, wants a hug, or wants to give someone another kiss.

Favorite Foods: Cheeseburgers, French fries, chicken nuggets, pizza, cheese, strawberries, grapes, bananas, PB&J sandwiches, corn on the cob (not kernels), green beans, toast with Nuetella, and of course ice cream, cupcakes and suckers. He likes drinking water, milk, apple juice and just recently Dave introduced him to Gatorade that he now loves.

TV Shows: Curious George, Dino Dan, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Caillou, PAW Patrol

Movies: Jungle Book, all the Toy Story’s, Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective, Finding Nemo, Peter Pan, Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

Toys: Still obsessed with baseball and hitting everything with a bat, dinosaurs, his baseball and superhero "guys".

Books: I Love You Stinky Face, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night, and Buenos Nochos Gorilla.

Favorite Things: His River Bandits baseball hat when he went to a game at the beginning of this season and it’s the only hat he’ll wear. Only wearing athletic shorts and baseball shirts because he wants to match daddy, it takes an act of God to persuade him into wearing anything else.

DislikesGetting wet or dirty, unless he's actually swimming. But if he gets wet playing with his water table, he cries and has to change clothes. Naps on the weekends are starting to become a struggle.

Struggles: I love to say that toddlers are exactly like Sour Patch Kids, “First their sour then their sweet”. Seriously, one second he marches from across the room to hit me out of nowhere and then immediately afterwards says “sorry mommy” and plants a big kiss on my lips. What the hell was that kid!

Personality/TemperamentMadden is full of energy and on the go non-stop. He is very good at entertaining himself for a while but prefers to have mommy or daddy play with him. He definitely can be a bit shy at first when meeting new people or those he doesn't see on a regular basis but after a few minutes he is his wild, crazy, sweet, and funny self. He is very facial expressive!! He wears his emotions on his sleeve and can always tell what type of mood he is in. He is seriously the funniest, most hilarious kid/person I know which is most highlighted by the video clip below.

Things He Loves To Say: Tigers/lions are called dinosaurs. He pronounces Yours as "Oars". Is currently on a growing kick and says daily “I growing, I get bigger like daddy.” "Come cuddle me Momma." "Your my best friend"

Proud Mommy Moments: Taking away his pacifier was somewhat of an easy transition. Madden was potty trained by 3 years old!

Looking Forward To: Madden will become a Big Brother this year which he is very excited about. I know we will have some adjustments, jealousy and tantrums once she arrives. He talked about his baby sister all the time, gives her hugs and kisses, and even already knows what Santa is bringing her Christmas (a jump rope and a bike in case you’re curious!). He helped convert his toddler bed back to a crib for her and cleaned it. He’s helped decorate her room and unwrap gifts for her. He has shown a lot of excited for her gifts, he’s said “this for my baby sister, it’s so cute!” while hugging it in his arms and then throwing it to move on to the next one.

We're looking forward to what age 3 has in store for us!!!

Oh, the 3 year old boys! So fun :) I think my favorite that I can relate to SO MUCH: the Sour Patch Kid reference. I was cracking up LOL. Can't wait to see Madden with his baby sister!
